The American Legion was chartered by the United States Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, mutual-help, war-time veterans’ organization. The community-service organization now has nearly 3 million members, both men and women, in nearly 15,000 Posts worldwide. The combined strength of The American Legion Family, comprised of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Sons of The American Legion, is over 4.5 million members. The American Legion Family has worked tirelessly on behalf of Children’s Miracle Network. The Posts, Units and Squadrons across the nation raise funds at the local level, as well as encourage their communities to get involved. Their efforts raise much-needed funds each year for Children’s Miracle Network.
