Kiwanis is a service-based organization with more than 8,500 clubs and upwards of 300,000 members worldwide. Founded in 1915, Kiwanis focuses members’ efforts on kids through an ongoing service program called Young Children: Priority One. Through this program, clubs are encouraged to carry out community projects that address local children’s needs.
In 1996, Key Club International (the high school Kiwanis program) decided to partner with Children’s Miracle Network as well. Clubs participate in Service of Champions Day (a service-a-thon that raises money for Children’s Miracle Network children’s hospitals and benefits communities simultaneously).
In 2006, Builders Club, made up of middle school-age Kiwanians, began a national program to raise money for children’s hospitals as well.
To date, Kiwanis and Key Club International have teamed up to raise more than $35 million for Children’s Miracle Network.
