Since 1986, the collegiate and alumni members of Phi Mu have raised over $7.1 million to benefit Children’s Miracle Network hospitals. Members raise funds through a variety of ways such as Dance Marathons, auctions, walk-a-thons, and their signature event, Hoopa-Paluza. Phi Mu Fraternity is the second oldest women’s social organization, forming in 1852 at Wesleyan College. Because the word “sorority” was not commonly used when Phi Mu was chartered, its proper name is Phi Mu Fraternity even though it is a women’s organization. Phi Mu focuses on teaching women leadership and life skills, and the work they do for Children’s Miracle Network plays a pivotal role in helping Phi Mu women become leaders in their community.
