Krispy
Kreme For Kids
On December 7 th , 686-dozen Krispy Kreme donuts were delivered
to anxious students on the Boston College campus, as part of the
“Krispy Kreme for Kids” campaign to benefit their upcoming Dance
Marathon.

With the closest Krispy Kreme 45 minutes away, the delicious
donuts are often few and far between for these campus-bound students.
The Dance Marathon committee knew they were on to something big,
and pre-paid $3.00/dozen for the 686 dozen donuts, which they
turned around and pre-sold at $6.00/dozen to students at a booth
in the student union. Students were even able to use their cafeteria
meal cards to buy donuts, which increased sales dramatically.
Some students pre-bought as many as six-dozen donuts at one time.
The donuts were then hand delivered to students on December 7
th . It took the entire committee and 2-3 months from start to
finish to pull off this successful campaign, which raised a grand
total of $2,658!
Katie Davis, overall director for the Dance Marathon, referred
to this event as a “Micro-chasm of Dance Marathon.” Everyone needed
to take charge and run with his or her own assignments. There
were unexpected challenges that arose along the way, such as when
a blizzard swept through Boston the night before they were to
deliver the donuts. Everyone came through with their commitments
though to be sure that despite two feet of snow on the ground,
the donuts were still delivered.
This
fund raiser set a precedence for the future of Dance Marathon
at Boston College, because everyone learned how to work together,
overcome obstacles while remaining positive and most importantly,
have fun. On March 19 th Boston College will hold their first
Dance Marathon to benefit Children's Hospital of Boston, and at
this rate, we know it will be a huge success. Keep up the great
work, Boston College. We appreciate all you are doing to grow
the Children's Miracle Network Dance Marathon program on your
campus!
